Description

During moxibustion therapy, the burning moxa stick is held over specific acupuncture points or regions of the body. The heat generated from the burning mugwort stimulates circulation, increases blood flow to the area, and promotes the flow of Qi (pronounced "chee"), or vital energy, according to traditional Chinese medicine theory. Moxibustion is often used in conjunction with acupuncture, although it can also be used as a standalone therapy. It is believed to be effective for a variety of conditions, including pain relief, digestive disorders, menstrual issues, arthritis, and boosting the immune system.
